ADAPTIVE PRO SPORTS INC. - WALK  FOR WAVES

Walk for Waves lead by Jade "Red" Wheatley, a double amputee and well-recognised Adaptive surfer, will lead each day of the walk. Walk For Waves is a scenic coastal walk over a 12 day period to raise awareness and much needed funding to develop Adaptive Surfing in Australia and Globally. Due to the nature of the sport and the competitors, Adaptive surfing requires alot of extra resources to facilitate an event. Additional resources like Beach safety and access team, extra water safety crew and equipment are required to manage risk to an appropriate level to Co-ordinate and run High Performance Adaptive Surfing events. Some other Walk For Waves Project objectives are to aid Adaptive surfers with the appropriate equipment to train and compete, assist Competitors to attend events and ultimately helping eligible athletes achieve their goals at the World Class level.

For many years in Australia and Globally there have been surfers that had to overcome some sort of disability to be able to get back into the ocean and surf. These surfers have proven themselves to be resilient and creative by adapting their own techniques and equipment to achieve this with help from their friends in the surfing community.

There are so many different types of disabilities and individuals who have conquered any limitation and can still surf and surf at a high level. This was never more evident than in 2015 when the International Surfing Association (ISA) held the first ever World Adaptive Surfing Championships in La Jolla, California. Over 75 entrants from 18 countries competed in 4 divisions, it was a major success and has opened up the world to Adaptive surfing. In 2018, the Stance ISA World Adaptive Surfing Championship made history, as a record-breaking 140+ athletes united in La Jolla, California to represent their 40 respective nations across 6 divisions.

Walk for Waves will help strengthen efforts of adaptive surfers and Develop the sport to a High Performance level of competition. By supporting Walk For Waves you will help see the amplitude of adaptive surfing increase to support an ever increasing level of skilled athletes and further develop projects like Adaptive Pro Sports Inc and the Bali Adaptive Pro.
